July 31, 2013

Oil spill off the Gulf of Thailand does not threaten the beaches of Pattaya.

Some media wrote today that the oil spill is approaching the beaches of Pattaya. The oil spill occurred on July 27 off the coast of Rayong province near the Koh Samet. From Pattaya is about 75 km by land or 100 km by sea. 30th of July oil spill has reached the Bang Phe beach, which is located about 5 kilometers from the accident place. Only the Samet island  and Ban Phe beach are affected  from the oil spill. In order to understand that the beaches of Pattaya is not in danger just look at the map below. It is doubtful that the oil spill will be able to swim 70 km due west, then turn sharply and swims for another 30 km to the north to the coast of Pattaya.
